Don't get mad, get stitching!
6/29/2015 2:15:15 PM
According to media reports cross stitching is now 'experiencing a revival' or a sure way of creating 'granny chic'. First there was Tom Katsumi's live stitching of the election results - hats off to him, in the early hours of the morning I'd be lucky to tell red from blue, let alone yellow from orange.
A feet of cross stitching
8/29/2014 10:13:02 AM
The frog paid a visit last night. I moaned and cursed and spluttered like mad - many will know the feeling. But this morning I read the story of Yang Pei and it's sort of put the frog into perspective.
Cost of charts
7/14/2014 11:25:49 AM
A few weeks ago I posted a link to an excellent blog post by Golden Circle Designs about the cost of kits - well, now she's followed it up with a post about the cost of charts.
Forgotten skills
6/9/2014 6:42:26 PM
Given the thousands of cross stitchers on Facebook I wouldn't have said cross stitching is a forgotten skill - but hats off to Natalie Philpott for her project to resurrect forgotten skills.
Temptation...
6/4/2014 5:58:14 PM
The day job is keeping me busy this week and after seeing these it's probably just as well!
Cross stitch means there are things I really need
6/2/2014 6:55:03 PM
As a cross stitcher there are things I really need. I don't just mean I'd like but things that would make life so much easier.
Cross stitch: art and good for you!
5/28/2014 6:12:29 PM
Well, if cross stitch is being shown at a New York art gallery then it's got to be art, right?.
Cross stitch: art or craft?
5/21/2014 6:44:10 PM
I've seen the debate about whether cross stitch is an art or a craft crop up a few times but there was an interesting twist in a Facebook discussion group this week.
Loop the loop
5/19/2014 10:35:23 PM
There was a plane doing aerial acrobatics over my garden at the weekend. Not that I'd booked it or anything like that, the display was for the canal festival in the next village - I just happened to get the benefit.
Stash prices
5/15/2014 3:12:38 PM
Today I thought I'd share a truly excellent post from Golden Circle Designs' blog Stitching with a Shimmy. It's all about the pricing of kits and charts.
Stories

I've just come across a knitting anthology. Yes, really.
Pop up gallery

I'm a fan of internet shopping - it's so easy, particularly at Christmas - but it does have its downsides and one of those is that see a 'live' stitched-up model is so different from seeing it on screen.
Further proof that cross stitch is good for you
4/23/2014 6:25:04 PM
I'm not sure whether it's the mechanics of stitching that have eased this gentleman's problems or whether he just wasn't going to give in until he'd finished but hats off to Alan Bramley.
Tweeding
4/21/2014 11:15:20 AM
Nope, nothing to do with cloth made in the Outer Hebrides. In cross stitch tweeding is used for two reasons.
How to make a cross stitcher very cross
4/9/2014 4:35:01 PM
For the most part cross stitchers are happy in their own little world, ignoring the housework and hiding their stash and all those UFOs (unfinished objects) but some things really annoy them...
Who are cross stitchers?
4/2/2014 11:19:32 AM
Well, according to a survey of members of Facebook cross stitch groups 97% of cross stitchers are female and we're younger than everyone thinks we are (definitely a Good Thing!)..
Cross stitching really is good for you
3/26/2014 10:39:02 AM
It's official, crafting - and that includes cross stitch - is good for your brain. People who make things are happier and potentially less likely to suffer from dementia.
