Saturday Share
7/12/2014 7:15:46 PM
I think I'm in shock - I've managed to post the Saturday Share on a Saturday! There was a lot to choose from this week but then one appeared that I just loved!
Finally! She's here

Thanks entirely to the day job taking over it's taken me a few days to release the latest Lady Elinor. This is partly because it took several goes to take a photo that was even vaguely in focus...
Saturday Share (on a Sunday - again)
7/6/2014 8:23:02 PM
It's been a busy weekend - the latest Lady Elinor is back from the framers, I just need to get a decent picture of her and get the PDF sorted so she can be released. It's all meant I'm a bit late with this week's Saturday share.
A story that explains why copyright is so important
7/3/2014 10:43:07 AM
You may think that the importance of copyright is to do with money but that's not always the case. Fellow designer Gale Ffrench has given me permission to share the post she wrote on Facebook today. She tells her story far more powerfully than I can, so over to her.
The black one...
7/1/2014 10:47:20 AM
No, not my mood, although I was a little irritated to discover that Monday had passed me by and I'd forgotten to update this blog, but the latest design, which I'm stitching on black fabric.

Just squeezed this in on Saturday (my excuse for my tardiness is that I've had a very productive day stitching the next model).
Third Lady Elinor finished!
6/23/2014 6:45:50 PM
Finally! I was beginning to think this would never happen but the latest Lady Elinor is finished and will be on her way to the framers as soon as they open.

Lots to choose from this week on the Facebook page Cross Stitch Showcase - and lots of themes coming up that are going to give me problems in choosing a favourite. But this week's share is....
The difference between a tailor and a seamstress
6/16/2014 6:25:28 PM
I've been doing a bit of genealogy (well quite a lot, really as every discovery throws up more questions) and it was with some delight I discovered a very distant ancestor was a seamstress.

I love the artwork of William Morris so as soon as I saw this modern twist I knew it would be this week's Saturday Share (although I was quite tempted by the kingfisher)..
Billiments and pieces
6/12/2014 11:23:23 AM
I usually try really hard to blog on specific days of the week - it's a vague attempt at organisation but yesterday I got engroseed as I attempted to make a final decision on the latest Lady Elinor design.
Forgotten skills
6/9/2014 5:42:26 PM
Given the thousands of cross stitchers on Facebook I wouldn't have said cross stitching is a forgotten skill - but hats off to Natalie Philpott for her project to resurrect forgotten skills.
Saturday Share (on a Sunday)

Missing: one Saturday can anyone who finds it please return so I can use it!
6/4/2014 4:58:14 PM
The day job is keeping me busy this week and after seeing these it's probably just as well!
Cross stitch means there are things I really need
6/2/2014 5:55:03 PM
As a cross stitcher there are things I really need. I don't just mean I'd like but things that would make life so much easier.

There were loads of designs on the Cross Stitch Showcase Facebook page this week but this week's Saturday Share was one of those pictures that I just kept coming back to.
Cross stitch: art and good for you!
5/28/2014 5:12:29 PM
Well, if cross stitch is being shown at a New York art gallery then it's got to be art, right?.

This has nothing to do with cross stitch I'm afraid but it's very much to do with the other part of my creative life.

I had a bit of a deliberation this week between whether to go for a clever design by Sheena Rogers or a beautiful design by Paine Free Crafts.
Cross stitch: art or craft?
5/21/2014 5:44:10 PM
I've seen the debate about whether cross stitch is an art or a craft crop up a few times but there was an interesting twist in a Facebook discussion group this week.
